ASCS 33

Postgraduate Travel Subsidies

As in the past, ASCS has set aside an amount of money to provide subsidies for postgraduate students at both Australian and New Zealand universities towards the cost of travel to attend the conference. Any subsidy provided is not intended to cover the total cost of travel but to assist with the cost, and it is not intended to be used for the costs of registration or accommodation. There is a limited amount of funding available, and we wish to share it around; subsidies will be proportionally based on the relative distance that each applicant has to travel. The maximum travel subsidy will be in the order of AUD$200, and in most cases less. Students are also encouraged to investigate whether funding for conference travel is available from their own department or university.

It is a condition of applying for a subsidy that you are a current member of ASCS (the student subscription is AU$25.00/approx. NZ$30.00 p.a.). You can apply for membership using an application form which you can download from the ASCS website (www.ascs.org.au, and click on ‘membership’).

To apply for a subsidy, you need to complete the application form (click here), or you can contact the ASCS Postgraduate Representative, Tim Scott, at timothy.scott@students.mq.edu.au, and ask for a form to be posted to you (remember to indicate your postal address!). Complete the form and post it back to Tim Scott by Monday 28th November 2011.

Enquiries can be directed to Tim Scott or to the ASCS Secretary, Bruce Marshall (brucemar@hinet.net.au).
